CISV Atlanta Newsletter – Summer 2005
On June 5, 2005, one day before its one year anniversary, CISV Atlanta Area held its combination 1st Anniversary / Farewell celebration. It was a wonderful time to look back on all of our successes while giving our very first Village delegation (Lakwanza Williams, Emily Clay, Michael Oden, Nick Watson, and Kelcie Sellers), Junior Counselor (Tim Banning), and Regional Mini Camp delegation (Jay Stallworth, Kellie Wall, Patrick Day, Ben Katz, Rishi Kowalski, Amber Foster, Zain Jafari, Rebecca Hanrahan) a proper send-off. With an attendance of some 43 members, ranging from 21 years of CISV experience to first year of experience, CISV Atlanta Area members sang Happy Birthday, shared stories, played hard, ate well, and had a wonderful time being together.
“We started strong on June 6, 2004, thanks to the experienced CISV core we had here in the Atlanta area,” CISV Atlanta Area President, Tait Anberg reflected. “We’ve got the combined experience of the Londrina, Omaha, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, and Smoky Mountain chapters in our midst. The continuing recruitment of our excited, involved new members makes us stronger every day. The fact that our members are spreading the word about CISV is the true reason we are growing steadily and we are constantly working to create a solid, lasting foundation for our organization. CISV USA, its many chapters, and members have been wonderfully supportive. I like to think that all we are doing is passing on the incredibly positive energy and vision that our founder, Doris Allen, imparted to us. We’re making our dream a fact.”
