2005 Regional Mini Camp: Chattanooga, TN Jun 17-19, 2005

The weekend of June 17-19, 2005, our CISV Atlanta Area Chapter sent a delegation of 6 children, 1 adult leader, and 1 staff member to the 2005 Regional Mini Camp hosted by the Chattanooga Chapter. Held at Horns Creek Resort in Ocoee, TN, it was based on the model of a CISV Village.  The theme of the Mini Camp was BUILDING 5’s based on the 5 Principles of CISV:

1.        Building close local, regional, national, and international friendships

2.        Becoming aware of basic likenesses of all of us while appreciating our differences

3.        Working to become essentially free from the barriers of prejudice

4.        Acquiring skills of communication with individuals and groups

5.        Developing an active desire for world peace

There was a total of 5 Chapters represented: Atlanta Area (GA), Chattanooga (TN), Cincinnati (OH), Gulf Coast (MS), and Smoky Mountains (TN).  Elijah Duncan of the Chattanooga Chapter was the Mini Camp planner. Rob Smith of the Chattanooga Chapter was director. Tait Anberg of the Atlanta Area Steering Committee and Rachel and Sherie Lefton of the Chattanooga Chapter were staff.  Denise Longino of the Gulf Coast Chapter, Ann Myers of the Smoky Mountain Chapter, Karen Niehaus of the Cincinnati Chapter, Lauryn Peterson and Mason Smith of the Chattanooga Chapter, and Jay Stallworth of the Atlanta Area Steering Committee were leaders.  Nick Boegly of the Chattanooga Chapter was our outstanding Junior Counselor.

Activities facilitated at the Mini Camp were name games, get-to-know-you activities, the Pathway to Peace, Peace-War-Peace, Whoever You Are activity utilizing Mem Fox’s book by the very same title, lullabies, flag time, water games, Community Building, and so much more.  The almost 40 delegates were on-board, on-task, energized, fully engaged, and having loads of fun.  Take a look at some of the pictures below (and on the next few pages) and enjoy!
